Are You Paying For: Perfume Varieties?
Well when you
splash on perfume the strength of the smell and how long it will last
depends on the perfume variety... Now this does not mean the price or
designer but rather the amount of fixatives and solvents used in the
perfume.
Perfume Extract or Parfum:
is the strongest. It has the highest concentration of scent. Around
20-40% Aromatic Compound. Parfum is a
long lasting scent. The higher strength means it is pure and has a lot
more staying power then other perfume varieties.
It is for this
reason you do not need to use as much as other varieties, it tends to
cost more due to the purity, but lasts longer then cheaper varieties.
 Eau de Parfum
This is still strong but not as pure
as Parfum. Its mix is 10-30% Aromatic Compound
Eau de Toilette
5-20% Aromatic Compound
Eau de Cologne
This perfume has the smallest amount of aroma to additives with only 2
-3%. This is a lighter fragrance so will not be as strong smelling and
long lasting.
Other varieties:
You will also find low concentrations of fragrance in things like
Aftershave, hand lotion, scented body lotions and washes.
