Brazilian Waxing Tips – Taming your hair “down there”

It is time to talk about hair… and I am talking about the hair “down there”. If you are going to take on at home bikini or Brazilian wax then this is the blog post you need to read.  Let’s get started with this video from the team at Nads.

So, what is the difference between a bikini wax and a Brazilian wax?

For a bikini wax, you’re generally removing the hair from the point where your bikini bottoms end, all the way to the upper mid-thigh if hair is growing there. It can also mean taking off a little from the top of the pubic mound, if desired.

With a Brazilian wax, hair is removed from almost everywhere,  including the outer lips of the vagina and in between the buttocks. Some women prefer to leave a section of hair on the pubic mound in a certain shape, usually the rectangular “landing strip”, while others prefer to remove every last hair.

Some tips when getting a Brazilian wax.

Well firstly, brace yourself, as the pain is far more intense than a regular bikini wax.

Also, consider the timing when getting your Brazilian.  Try to avoid those times when you’re more sensitive, such as around the time of your period.

Make sure not to shave before waxing. Your hair down there should at least be ¼ to ½ inch in length to be able to pull out the hair properly and completely.

Avoid having sex or exercising at least 24 hours after waxing. Doing anything that causes sweating down there can lead to irritation.

Use cotton undies and loose clothing after you wax.

Use an ingrown hair serum to help prevent those irritating ingrown hairs.

Can I do my own Brazilian wax at home?

Of course, by all means. There are DIY products available that offer a quick and easy way to do your own Brazilian waxing at your convenience.  One such product available in our online store is the Nad’s Brazilian and Bikini Kit.

How do I use the Nad’s Brazilian and Bikini Kit?

Step 1 – Heat the product using a microwave oven. Take it out and let it stand for one minute to allow the heat to diffuse throughout the wax. Stir the wax until it is the consistency of thick honey.

Step 2 – Trim hair to about 5mm in length.

Step 3 – Dip provided spatula into the center of the jar. Scoop the wax out and rotate the spatula to prevent the product from dripping. Apply thick layer of wax in the same direction as hair growth, leaving a small amount of wax at the end of the patch to curl up. This will make it easier to remove the wax later on.

Step 4 – Allow the wax to cool on your skin for about 15-30 seconds. Wait until the product is still soft and pliable and is no longer sticky to touch.

Step 5 – Hold skin taut with one hand then using the fingers of your free hand, lift the end of the wax. Make sure to grip the wax firmly. With one quick motion, remove the wax in the opposite direction of hair growth.

Step 6 – Be careful not to pull the wax upwards but rather keep it as close to your skin as possible. This will ensure that all the hair stuck to the wax will be properly removed.

Step 7 – Remove any excess wax using the Nad’s Post Wax Oil wipes that go with the pack. Do not use water.

What is included in the pack?

  • Nad’s Hair Removal Wax
  • Spatula
  • Nad’s Post Wax Oil wipes
  • 4 bikini shapes – Landing Strip, Bermuda Triangle, Heart
    Breaker and Thunder Struck
