How does it work?

Based on the studies conducted by the university clinic in Jena, it was proven that caffeine penetrates the hair roots and this protects the hair from the negative impact of testosterone, which is one of the causes of premature hair loss.  The experiment, conducted by Dr. Kurt Wolff, sought to incorporate sufficient amount of caffeine in a special shampoo formula. This amount would allow the release of caffeine to the scalp even during a short period of contact with the hair, yet would still be able to transport it to the hair roots.  This caffeine shampoo, with pending patent, came out with positive results and accomplished the set task after being left on the scalp for no more than 2 minutes.  And it was further supported by a new study that was conducted at the Berlin University Clinic (Charite).

Graphic 1 shows the entire penetration, i.e. across the scalp and the hair follicles.
During the first few minutes, the caffeine from the shampoo had already advanced to the hair follicles where it was still detectable after 24 hours.

Graphic 2 represents the difference in dermal and overall penetration. It shows the path of penetration via the hair sheath directly to the hair follicle.

Compared to overall penetration, it shows that during the first phase of penetration (2 minutes to 30 minutes), the hair sheath or hair follicle clearly dominates.
After 30 minutes, penetration via the scalp near the hair follicles has increased to such an extent as to ensure the continued availability of caffeine for up to eight hours.

This result shows the difference between short term penetration through the hair follicle and long term penetration through the scalp.
