Aptamil Feed Thickener 380g

Regurgitation is one of the foremost problems encountered by mothers while feeding their infants. It is also called gastroesophageal reflux (GER),meaning the effortless spitting up of a mouthful of stomach contents.   It usually happens after feeding the baby with either formula or breastmilk and is often accompanied by a burp.

It is not an alarming medical condition as it is common among children under one year old. But it can be managed with the help of Aptamil Feed Thickener.

Product Ingredients:

Maltodextrin, starch (from Maize), carob bean gum (may contain traces of milk)

How to use for best results:

Add 2 scoops  (approximately 8g) to each 200 ml. of breastmilk or formula.  Whisk or shake vigorously.  If the baby continues to regurgitate, gradually increase dosage to 3 to 4 scoops for each 200ml.  A medium fast flow teat is recommended unless otherwise advised.

How to prepare a gel:

Sprinkle one scoop (approximately 4g) of this product into 20-30ml (approximately 1-2 tablespoons) of cooled, boiled water, expressed breastmilk or infant formula.  Whisk or mix vigorously to a thin paste.  You may either feed from a spoon, cup or plastic syringe, before, during or directly after breastfeeding or bottle feeding.  You may also increase up to 2 scoops if a thicker gel is necessary.

How to prepare thickened foods:

Gradually add this product to sauces, soups, purees and custards until desired texture is achieved.

Are there any warnings and precautions?

This product is not an infant formula, breast milk substitute or a complete food for infants. To be used to thicken liquids or food but not as a sole source of nutrition. Not suitable for use with premature infants. Consult your healthcare professional before use. This is not a breastmilk substitute. Failure to follow directions can be harmful to your baby. Store in a cool dry place. Use by the date on container bottom. After opening, keep container airtight and use contents within four weeks. Some settling of the powder may occur. Not suitable for general use and should only be used under medical supervision.
