How to use for best results?
- Clean and dry the nail to be treated.
- Apply a thin layer of Daktarin tincture to the nail twice daily.
- The nail may come off due to the infection.
- Continue the treatment without interruption until all signs of the infection have gone and the nail appears completely normal or a new nail has formed and the lesions are completely cured (usually at least 2 months).
- Do not apply to open wounds.
Why does treatment take so long?
They can be particularly hard to treat because it is hard to get under the nail to where the fungus resides. You need to continue the treatment for long periods of time to make sure all traces of the fungus are gone so it can not become reinfected.
